January in Nursery

4th Feb 2020

January has been an exciting time in Nursery, our theme for the month was ‘Winter’.

We had lots of fun exploring ice, freezing our toys and learning all about the thawing process. We got our very first homework which was to freeze water and bring the final product to school. In large groups we investigated the shape, colour and texture of the ice. There were some fantastic ice products that even tasted of orange.

It was warmer in the home corner by the fire, where we made vegetable soup. It was a little tricky using the knife. Whilst cooking we used our senses so smell, touch and even taste the vegetables.

On the carpet we constructed igloos like the eskimos who live in the Arctic Region. We also had little Arctic animals in the small world and we learnt the names of their babies.

In the arts and craft area we created frosty collages and snowmen biscuits for us to eat.
